Activity groups are the
heart and soul of our organization. They provide opportunities
to make friends with people who enjoy the same activities you
do while enjoying all that La Jolla has
to offer. Some activities listed may change
slightly each year. Newcomer members begin new groups,
and their leadership is an exciting and
changing asset of the organization.
Social &
Dining:
Coffee
Around Town - Meet for one hour on a
Friday each month at different coffee venues in the company of
Newcomer friends.
Evening
Out - Watch the
newsletter for special nights "out on the town" for sharing
the Symphony or theatre with Newcomer
friends.
Luncheons-
Once-a-month dining in restaurants
such as the Marine Room.
Delectable
Gourmet Dining - Meets once a month
for a gourmet dinner in members’ homes.
Happy Hour About Town -
gives members the opportunity to socialize with fellow Newcomers at a variety of restaurants and enjoy reduced prices on food and/or drinks. Gatherings are the third Wednesday of the month in late afternoon, at a time to fit the selected restaurant's Happy Hour.

First Friday Breakfasts -
Networking breakfasts for men (and women!) with interesting
speakers.
Mini-Trippers
- Interesting day trips to explore your new
city
with friends.
Punch
& Lunch
- Potluck lunch with a theme once a month. Casual dining at

art group - "tag" -
Explore the world of
Art...field trips, lively discussions.
Book
Talk -
This is a great daytime group for book lovers. It meets in
members’ homes to discuss thought-provoking books.
Critics'
Choice -
Members explore and critique films selected & viewed by
the group. Meets once a month.
Evening
book Group – Spend
an evening with new friends while discussing fiction and
non-fiction.
Photofinish
-Gather
once a month for coffee while putting your photos in albums.
Not a scrapbook group...just a support group for
procrastinators.
Wine
Tasting-
Connoisseurs and beginners sample fine wines. Meets
every month usually in members’ homes.
CARDS And BOARD
GAMES:
Canasta - An easy to learn and
fun game with a warm afternoon group of
friends.
Fun and Games - combine mental challenges with an opportunity to make and renew friendships. Team games, individual winners or board games, meeting three or four times during the year.
Party Bridge -
Evening "Chicago" bridge played as
individuals rather than set partners, meeting in members'
homes.
Poker
- A
monthly evening game strictly for fun and
camaraderie.
OUTDOOR
RECREATION:
Walking -
Meets at La Jolla Cove three mornings a week to spend an hour
walking along the coast while enjoying good
company.
Each year the groups may vary
depending on interest and
leadership.
